Warriors Unveil Nostalgic Classic Edition Uniforms for 2024-25 Season

On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors revealed their Classic Edition uniforms for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season, honoring their roots from the Philadelphia Warriors era, which spanned from 1946 to 1962. This period is renowned for its championship victories and the early dominance of basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain.

The announcement is timed with notable historic significance, marking the 70th anniversary of the Philadelphia Warriors' second championship. The Classic Edition jerseys are a tribute to one of the team’s most celebrated periods, closely resembling the uniforms worn during those illustrious years. The predominantly white jerseys are highlighted with red and gold trim, with numbers and "Warriors" emblazoned across the chest, accentuated by blue shadowing.

The unveiling also coincides with the birthday of a pivotal figure in Warriors history, Jackie Moore. Moore broke barriers in 1955 as the first Black player for the Warriors and celebrates his 92nd birthday today. Amanda Chin, the Warriors' senior vice president of marketing, emphasized the significance of this moment, stating, "This iconic uniform was brought back to represent our proud heritage and the pioneering spirit of players like Jackie Moore, who turns 92 today."

During their tenure in Philadelphia, the Warriors secured two championships and laid the foundation for their future successes. Wilt Chamberlain, one of basketball’s most dominant figures, began his NBA career with the Warriors, adding to the rich legacy the Classic Edition uniforms seek to commemorate.

In the 2021-22 season, the Warriors sported a throwback road blue look from the same era, a nod to their historical attire. It was in these throwback uniforms that Stephen Curry famously broke the NBA's all-time 3-point field goal record, creating a memorable moment in the franchise's modern history.

The Warriors will debut the Classic Edition uniforms in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 29, promising fans a visual link to their storied past while inspiring the current roster. Chin highlighted the broader meaning behind bringing back these iconic uniforms, stating, "Our new Classic Edition Uniform is a testament to the rich legacy of the Warriors and a nod to the history that shapes our identity as a team."

The Classic Edition jerseys serve as a portal to the past, bridging the gap between the team's early achievements and its present-day aspirations. As the Warriors step onto the court in these historic uniforms, they will carry with them a legacy of success and a reminder of the pioneering figures who helped shape the franchise’s history.
