The report, compiled by Optimove Insights, offers a detailed examination of the wagering and communication preferences of the average European bettor.

Betting Behavior and Preferences

The findings reveal that a significant portion of bettors (58%) exhibit active betting behavior, placing bets on one or more games weekly. Additionally, 29% of bettors place wagers on multiple games per week. An impressive 76% of respondents bet at least once a month.

When it comes to the types of bets, over/under bets emerge as the most favored, attracting 46% of bettors. Prop bets follow closely at 39%, with parlays rounding out the top three at 35%.

Popular Betting Events

The Champions League and European tournaments are the most popular events for bets, with 57% of bets placed on these events. National league season games also attract substantial interest, accounting for 54% of bets.

Other popular betting events include national tournaments or friendlies (48%) and national cup games (46%).

Euro 2024 Betting Trends

An astounding 84% of bettors plan to bet on Euro 2024, regardless of whether their national team is participating. Live betting during games is particularly popular, with 83% of bettors engaging in this form of wagering.

The key factors influencing a bet are player performance, cited by 52% of respondents, and expert analysis and betting promotions, each impacting 47% of bettors.

Marketing Challenges

The report highlights a significant challenge for operators: an overwhelming number of marketing messages or irrelevant content can lead to platform abandonment. Many respondents have switched platforms due to this issue.
